Additional Pylons

So my last post has to be months old by now and it occurred to me I hadn't updated this in a while.

I'll try to keep it short and sweet.

I've been playing less and less lately of any games. I recently picked up Blazblue Continuum Shift and after about a week dropped it. The online is much crappier than the first and the balance in that game is not well formed. I did enjoy the offline content, but the online was supposed to be the reason to keep playing it. I quickly fell back on Super Street Fighter 4. I keep getting better and better with my Abel. I can read my opponents very well after 1 round, my execution is very on point, and I can consistently win against higher skilled opponents now more so than ever. If I had a capture card I'd upload them to my youtube, but for now that's not an option.

The biggest things I'm looking forward to are my new desktop PC arriving around August 31st. :D I ordered it after seeing that Final Fantasy XIV will pretty much suck on the PS3 version and it won't be out till March of next year as opposed to the PC version being out Sept 22nd of this year. That's a LONG wait for a crappier version, so I invested the $1,300.00 in a new rig. I also ordered Starcraft 2 which should show up tomorrow, but I can't play it on this laptop. Once that PC shows up I'll be jumping in as a super noob.

I pretty much hate RTS games. Well more like I haven't had much exposure to them nor have I wanted to. Up to now most RTS games have just been "meh," to my likings. I've played a lot of strategy RPGs, but never completed or got into any. The only exception is Valkyira Chronicles which is AMAZING. That game is what the future of SRPGs should be. Combining the strategic turn based gameplay with third person action/shooter elements. I felt more involved in each decision and had a blast. The story elements were well woven and the characters were well realized, although some fell flat.

So why am I getting Starcraft2? Well a few reasons come to mind. The hype behind it is huge. Well reviewed by the media and heavily loved by the people who bought it. A promise to be newcomer friendly with plenty of tutorials and an online that will match you up with others who suck/kick ass as much as you. Also, because Blizzard delivers. Has there been a bad Blizzard game ever? I really don't think so. Those guys make money out the ass and always cater to their fans needs/wants. I wish every developer had their level of love for their craft.

If I end up sucking at SC2 then at least I'll have a great campaign to roll through. Plus, by the time I would give up on it FFXIV will be right there for me to move on to.

FFXIV is easily my most anticipated game since probably FFXI. I played FFXI for 6 years on and off, so 14 has a lot to live up to and time to steal away. I am worried about a lot of the bad things I've been hearing from beta folks about exp penalties, quest cool downs, input lag from mouses, etc. Hopefully open beta will make me a believer, but it'd be hard for that game to not impress me. It would have to be a complete 180 from what XI did, but since it's the same team behind it I'm not that worried that eventually they iron out the kinks.

August 31st can't come soon enough. :)
