Americans have shorter attention spans than my cat and less common sense than a squirrel

The right-winger's of the GOP (republican party) are beating their drums against Obama. It must really kill them to have, not only a democrat and liberal in the White House, but a black man with Muslim ties.

What the right-wingers are all pissed off about now, is the building of a mosque 2 blocks from "ground zero" of the former World Trade Center. Two blocks, as in two long streets over, as in not actually AT ground zero...on privately owned property.

CNN says that 70% of Americans are against the mosque. They don't even care that non-Muslim businesses will be going into the building, as well--thereby boosting the troubled economy that has plauged that neighbourhood since Sept. 11th 2001.

70% of Americans could care less than it wasn't only white American Christians who died in the towers that day---Muslims died as well, Muslims who had NOTHING to do with the Taliban, Americans and non-Americans alike, just like every other victim, who were only there doing their ordinary jobs, on what should have been an ordinary day. But, because they weren't WASPS, weren't Christian or Jewish, their lives are never talked about, much less valued, by many Americans.

Most of those 70% of Americans say the victims would be upset...how the hell would they know? The victims are dead, and I'm willing to bet that at least 68% of Americans don't even know anyone who was a victim of 9-11!

But, the media largely isn't giving people facts--and, in a sick parody of the sentiment which sent us to an unnecessary and what may be perpetual war in Iraq, people are blindly and almost gleefully hate-mongering and vilifying all Muslims every bit as much now, as when Bush beat the republican War Drum back in 2002-2003.

And another thing; all this hysteria over a mosque near ground zero, totally plays into the hands of the terrorists. By getting hysterical over a mosque, Americans are willingly handing the Taliban a propaganda victory of massive propotions.

Of course, this is just my opinion. I knew a girl who lost her dad in 9-11. I wonder how she feels about this...has any of these irrational, bigoted people, even bothered to survey the survivors and family members of victims how they view this whole affair? No, probably not. That might give the angry mob something they might not want to hear...the truth.
