CONCACAF CL: Opening Matchday Wins For TFC and Striped Gang; Olimpia and Islanders Draw

TThree Tuesday games marked the opening of group stage play in the CONCACAF Champions League.


Group A:


At Toronto:


Martin Saric (3') and Mista (44') provided the scoring that enabled Toronto FC to hold off visiting Cruz Azul 2-1.


Group C:


At Monterrey, Mexico:


Aldo de Nigris scored the only goal of the match at 25 minutes as Monterrey defeating visiting Deportivo Saprissa 1-0.


Group D:


At Bayamon, Puerto Rico:


Mauricio Copete's equalizer at 68 minutes gained a 1-1 road draw for CD Olimpia in their contest with the Puerto Rico Islanders.  Nicholas Addlery scored at 40 minutes for the USSF D2 Pro League club.
