How much should i charge for advertising banner on my site?

Is there a way to determine a reasonable price according to pageviews, unique daily visitors, or alexa rank?

site is ranked at top 5000 (source: alexa.com) and gets more than 5 thousand UNIQUE visitors daily (source: server stats)

Never used to sell adspace in the past,

I have no clue if i should charge 10 bucks a month or 100 bucks a month or what...

Apreciate any accurate feedback in case someone has experience

Reply:The bset way for you to start is through: https://www.google.com/adsense/ . You basically put a code on your site and google pays you per click. Ads are tailored to your content on your site, therefore you have a different ads.

This way you do not have to worry about getting advertisers. Google gives you advertisers and pays you for it.

You should know how much is your costs, that will include everything, not just space in the website such as your computer when you depreciate it, electricity to have it run 24 hrs,the design for the ads etc. Once you determine the cost, you then decide how much you want to charge. How long do you speculate your business will run for? You can ring up another company that sell advertising banner on their website to get some idea. Best of success.
Reply:Hi there, I have been advertising banners on a site that gets 600,000 hits a month on average and it costs us $100usd a month. I think that is great. Another site that we work closley with has over 1.2million members and they charge $15,000 a month for a rotating banner.Hope this helps you.
Reply:Afraid I don't know either but maybe you would look at a tiered rate, so some long-term banner would be lower cost than a banner up for 1-week or 1-month. A lot of adverts are done via agencies (rather than companies direct) and they will probably tell you what they will pay! I guess once you have a few and can measure click throw's then that starts to justify a higher price tag. 5,000 visitors sounds good unless they dont do anything when they arrive and leave straight after.
