Mets Buc the Pirates.

The lite hitting Mets  opened a can on
the worst team in baseball.


The Mets hung a 15 hit attack on the 
broadside of the lowly Buccaneers.


The surprising thing about this win is that 
the Mets usually give the inferior teams a
pass. Not this time. After the Met manager
called the team offense pathetic the day before,
the team came back with a oh yeah!


Another surprise was Chris Carter in the clean-up
spot & he came through.

Carter, batting cleanup for only the third time all season, hit his third homer and first since June 13 at Baltimore to start the third.

“Jerry pulled me aside and said, ‘I’m not putting you in the 4-hole because you’re a slugger, but because you’re a great hitter,”’ Carter said. “That kind of helped me relax. And that’s probably why I did hit a home run.”

Mike Pelfrey

Mike Pelfrey stayed in the game despite a queasy stomach, which erupted shortly after he warmed up before the game and didn’t calm down until the fifth inning.

“When you’re not feeling good you lower your expectations and focus on executing pitches, which is what I did well,” he said.

Pelfrey struck out five, walked two and gave up six hits and one earned run in his longest outing since pitching nine innings against San Diego on June 8.

Final score Mets won 7-2.
