Cati has been a terror lately. She doesn't want to eat. She doesn't want to sleep. She'll be perfectly ok one minute and then be crying the next. Normally, I relish the last hour with her before bedtime but lately I hungrily lust for 7pm. Is she teething? Going through a growth spurt? Reacting to the veggies? If only she could talk! She'd save me a lot of confusion and frustration. I guess that's why babies are so cute. Just when you think you can't take anymore, that sweet face looks at you, gives you a smile that says "You're the coolest thing around" and you almost forget what was bothering you.

The waiting game!

I'm 37 weeks pregnant and feeling like I'm 45 weeks. It's such a double edged sword, I'm anxious to meet the little guy but not feeling ready to be a mommy of three kids, 4 years old and under. Last week at a regular OB appointment the nurse detected his heart rate at 160bpm. This is fine for a regular baby, but made me a little nervous since I haven't seen it like that since I was put on medication for his SVT. After loosing it emotionally for the next several days the cardiologist assured me yesterday that he is doing just fine. Thank goodness. His heart rate should vary and there is nothing to worry about. I laughed at my sweet cardiologist who has no kids. She then told me he's gotten bigger since she has seen me last, I confirmed telling her the hospital measured him at 6 pounds 4 ounces last week. She looked pleased said good and I said she obviously hasn't pushed a kid out yet. There's lots of time for this kid to gain a few more pounds and make that head grow even bigger. :) I'm so excited, another big baby! :) Kaitlyn was 9 pounds 12 ounces, Adeline was 8 pounds 5 ounces (at a week early) and so I can't wait to see what our son is.  Here is a recent ultrasound, enjoy!

Unveiling the nursery

The past few months our big project has been transforming a ho-hum home office into a nursery - a task spurred on by bouts of nesting or nagging, whichever you believe in more. But, after shoving all the items into closets throughout the house in a somewhat organized fashion, we started with a clean slate.

We quickly settled on a forest theme - heavy with gender neutral greens and requiring no new wall color - and set to work on an eclectic mix of design and furniture (a good way to mask the fact that we don't have any designer know-how). Here is the end result...drumroll, please:

Ta-Da! A few of our key items and projects:

  • Rocking chair from The Bent Tree

  • Curtains from Anthropologie...and are actually tablecloths

  • Changing table was a down-on-its-luck dresser refinished and topped by my parents

  • Project: Mural (future post)

  • Project: Origami branch (future post)

  • Project: Crib skirt (future post)

  • Project: Pendant 'tree' lamps (future post)
