If you are a golfer you need to choose the right club to hit the ball in the right situation. If you are a carpenter you need to choose the right chisel to make just the perfect fit. If you are a computer repair person, if you don't choose the right Alan wrench you are not going to get very far. But what if you are just washing cars - I mean all you need is a bucket of water and a sponge right, it doesn't matter does it?
Au contraire my friends, it does matter, it matters very much, especially if you are doing fleets of vehicles, and using a pressure washer. Depending on what kind of job you are doing, you might even need a hot-water pressure washer, and several different tips on the end of the gun to force the spray in a manner that will clean efficiently, and deliver the number of cleaning units you need to get to the surface, to complete your operations.
For years before retirement, I ran a mobile car washing and fleet truck washing business, and we actually franchised it around the country. Not long ago, someone who is in the mobile car washing business asked me which tips they should use to do this type of cleaning. Specifically they were talking about the cleaning of car dealership car lots, where there might be 100 to 200 cars in any one place. So I was asked;
"What tip angle is best?"
For cleaning cars I recommend 20-35-degree tips, for cleaning heavy equipment you need more firepower, for cleaning trucks you going to want get in there and clean the frame and underneath the gas tanks and the front axles, around the refer units if they have one, and any mechanical hydraulic components and such, you might need a 15° tip, but then switch over to the 20 or 35° tip when cleaning the trailers and cabs - you don't want to peel decals, unless you want to see someone really pissed off and livid!
When cleaning graffiti - always have a zero-tip in your pocket incase a gang-banger comes back to challenge you, just shoot em! The reality is you can actually cut off your finger, or put a big gash in it, if you hit with hot water at 3500 PSI with a zero tip, it's completely dangerous. But then again so are gang bangers after you clean the graffiti off the wall, they are quite upset.
Anyway, I hope this discussion has helped you consider the different types of tips to use for different types of cleaning. Please consider all this.
