"The LORD is my shepherd; there is nothing I lack."
With all the proper attention to Mary this week, I wanted to look at St. Joseph. If I had his four great character qualities, I would truly lack for nothing.
Humility that prevents getting a big head or knowing your proper place as a servant of God
Obedience was always at the forefront of his actions. He followed the will of God without question or hesitation.
Self-control is his silence in the Gospels. Here he was step-father and teacher to the Son of God, yet he labored for his family.
Devotion to family is the big one. The old movie line that "love means never having to say your sorry" would fit his character and qualities. He loved his wife and his son. He was devoted to Jesus and Mary. What an example of how a man should live.
St. Joseph pray for us.
