On Monday, summer break will be over and my kids will go back to school. As always for me it will be bitter sweet; on one hand, I'm experiencing trepidation and hoping that they will be safe, happy and do well and on the other hand, rejoicing that I will have more time to devote to writing. This year is quite a biggie for me, I've been working from home in some capacity for much of my parenting life but this year will be the first year that the kids will all be in school full time, as last year my youngest was only in a half day kindergarten program.
The prospect of all those extra uninterrupted hours beckon and I hope to fill them productively by finally working on goals that I've never quite reached before. As always though, there will be class field trips, shows and volunteering in the classrooms throughout the school year. I wouldn't miss these for the world but aside from those times, the upcoming months are my chance to devote myself to freelance writing and take my income up a notch, or two or three.
I plan to
- write residual income articles with much more frequency
- figure out how to generate a better income from my blogs
- write more flat fee articles
- actively pursue private client work
Good luck to all the Moms out there that are sending little ones to school and will be taking on new writing challenges during the school year. I hope it's a productive and lucrative one for us all.
Anyone else taking on any new and interesting writing challenges or setting fresh goals at this time of year?
