Do you think things happen to you for a reason?

Here's a funny story.

About three weeks ago I had my filthy car valeted inside and out. On the day I had it done, my daughter and I emptied everything out of the car and put all the stuff - of which there was loads - into supermarket carrier bags, and took them into the house and plonked them all on the kitchen table.

After I had the car cleaned - it was so nice and lovely... I was reluctant to put anything back in it, so I ignored the stuff in the bags and carried on regardless.

One day as I was tootling along with the little birds flying around on the top of my silly head - I noticed to my horror that there was no tax disc in the window.

Oh Shit !

I called my daughter and asked her to take a look inside the bags and get the disc holder out for me. It is a bright pink thing with little diamonds round the edge, and is not something you would miss. However she could not find it.

When I got home, I went through all of these bags thoroughly and it was gone. I searched the empty car, looked under the seats just in case it had been left in there, but the damn thing was gone.

My tax is not due until the end of this month, but it is still an offence not to display a valid tax disc in your car, so I decided to renew my tax early and then at least I would have something on display in the car.

I got the reminder and went on line.

I put all of the details in and it came up that I did not have a current MOT certificate.

What?

When I bought the car it was almost new. It has not needed an MOT until now, and how would I have known? They don't send you a reminder for this.

If I had not lost the tax disc in the first place, I would not have known about the MOT and would not have been able to drive my car because I do everything at the last bloody minute.

Yesterday it sailed through the MOT......... but here's the funny thing - I found the tax disc holder - in my handbag.

Phew!
