So Costa Rica is coming to a close. To tell you the truth I'm not sure what to think about this. My heart is overflowing with a billion emotions right now. I'm gunna miss this place... waking up every morning to coffee and fresh fruit galore, being squished between 1 too many people on the bus, the honking, the view of the mountains, shopping the center of San Jose, running and coming back soaked from the rain, afternoon coffee with my mama tica, my familia tica, plantains, rice and beans, that heart-shaped pot whole I walk over every morning on the way to the bus stop... the list could go on! I'm also excited for going back though. I'll miss Costa Rica more than ever and I'm already preparing myself for the major culture shock I will have being back in America, but I miss my family and friends!
Costa Rica has been by far the best summer of my life! I think it has really changed me. I feel more like I'm myself now. I feel like before I would hide myself and be afraid to be who I really was. Now I'm more me all the time, and I like that! I'm not afraid to be crazy or try new things. I'm not afraid of change; I'm excited for what it will bring!
A funny story that you will get a kick out of...
"Since when do I wet the bed?!"
So on our family vacation we went to La Cruz in Guanacaste which is a province of Costa Rica right next to Nicaragua. It was by far the most beautiful beach I have ever seen! God really out did himself in creating those sunsets I saw! Anyways, I slept on a bed that was in the living area of our little condo thing. During the first night, it rained... and when I say it rained, it poured! Cats and dogs, buckets, however you want to put it... I woke up in the middle of the night to a soaking wet matress right next to my bottom. The first thought that went through my head: "Oh my goodness! I just wet the bed!!" I proceeded to feel my shorts and they were perfectly dry. After a few seconds of confused middle of the night grogginess I realized what was happening. No, I did NOT wet the bed! I heard a drip, drip, drip... the ceiling was leaking on to my matress! The moment I realized I didn't wet the bed, I rolled over and went back to sleep on my wet matress wondering how in the world I would explain this to my family in the morning... in Spanish. In the morning I woke up to a mattress that had a nice circle stain from the rain water. "Good luck trying to explain this one Chelsea! They are going to think you are a 20 year old that wets the bed!" I thought to myself. Luckily, this happened to Erika and Tito's bed too, so my family fully understood! Thank goodness!
