If your Mining Profession level is high enough, one of the best ares is the Un'goro crafter as well as Winterspring. There is alot of competition for the ore but they drop alot of thorium and also you often have the chance to get Arcane crystals, Azerothian diamonds and other valuable gems. 2. Hearthglen Mine in Northern Western Plaguelands

They have a fast respawn time but be careful because the veins inside the mine are guarded by groups of 2 miners. I have sometimes seen a few drop at a time. As i said before, this spots is kind of secret and not so competitive, but since this is thorium you need a minimum Mining level of 251
