My Friend Rabbit Review
This is a bittersweet day for me -- I am sifting through the bookcase and sorting out the wheat from the chaff. I've come across so many old favorites. Now that the baby (the "baby") can read chapter books to himself, he doesn't want as many of these old favorites read to him anymore. I'm still saving them, and it's time to write reviews on why we loved the ones we did.
This book is so funny. I think of it more as a storyteller's guide.
From the title page, where mouse gets a brand-new present and rabbit is overjoyed, and all through the two friends' problem-solving adventures, rabbit and mouse are firm friends.
When they fly the toy airplane, Eric Rohmann gives you a big dotted line. This is where the sound effects come in. I have the kids make airplane noises and move their fingers over the line, and we squeak out a mouse voice and a cheerful rabbit voice.
As Rabbit goes bounding off to put his plan into place, we turn the pages and act out rabbit pushing or pulling or hopping along with great giant animals, and it is a laugh riot.
As all the animals are about to fall, we quack all over the place like the little ducklings. And at the end, we get to make the flying noises with the big dotted line again.
I'll keep this book forever. This is a great one.

Fun read - Siv S - California, USA
My baby girl received this book as a gift - and what a wonderful gift. The pictures are absolutely gorgeous & the story is short, simple and sweet. I started reading this book to my baby at 4 months old. Of course in the beginning, all she did was stare at the pictures - which actually says a lot about the quality of the illustrations. Babies gravitate to strong contrast and heavier line quality, and later on, they also pick up on bright colors. My little one gets very vocal every time I read her this book... its fun seeing her reactions & it's cool knowing that she is absorbing the imagery, shapes and colors. This book is not only interesting for her to look at, but also for me when I read it to her over and over again. I'm sure when she is a little older she will understand the story which I find to be totally adorable. I LOVED this book so much that I looked up the artist and bought another one by him "a kitten tale".

My Friend Rabbit
I really enjoyed reading My Friend Rabbit. It had some funny parts in it. I really liked how Rabbit tried to help get the plane for mouse by stacking all the animals on top of each other. Rabbit tries to help everybody, but it always ends with more trouble than help. Rabbit wants to help everyone, but he does not think about the what is going on sometimes. The pictures helped me understand the story too. They had lots of different bright colors and I really liked the pictures. I would recomend this to to everybody, it is a nice funny book to read.
Great Book For Baby Signing - Oskar's Mom - Tucson, AZ
This great book with excellent illustrations was a favorite for both of my boys. We did Baby Sign Language from birth and my friend rabbit is a fun book for teaching and reinforcing the animal signs. Before my son could speak from about about 16 months on he would tell this story in sign language, explaining how the animals would stack, it was a lot of fun! I recommend the "Signing Times" DVD called "Zoo Train" and "Great Outdoor" which teaches you the animal signs you can use with the book.
