It's a sad reality but often times cartoons and movies aimed at children are TOTALLY INAPPROPRIATE for children.
You just can't trust the ratings given to these movies by the TV industry and even if you could, those people rating the movies don't know your children and what they may or may not be particularly sensitive to.
For instance, our boys don't do well with violence or even the "good guy fighting a bad guy" theme that you see in so many children's films. For that reason, several movies that some parent's would deem okay for their children are not an option for my sensitive little guys.
I want to share a tool that I've used for years that has managed to make mommy life a little less problematic. Plugged In Online is a website run by Focus on the Family. Upon visiting the website you can enter the title of a movie, video game, television show, music CD, etc. and you will be given more information than you could possibly need about the chosen media.
The review will give you a detailed rundown of the movie and then specifically address topics such as positive elements, sexual content, violent content, crude/profane language, drug/alcohol content and other negative elements.
We use the site on a regular basis and have never been let down by a review. So, why not check out the reviews on a few new movies and get geared up for Family Movie Night.
