Today, packaging is a lucrative business. People are most often captivated by the quality of the packaging of goods and services they receive. Consequently, organizations and manufacturers have stepped up their packaging strategy.
In Nigeria, the marriage feast is a venue of seeing gift well packaged in tiny foil material with glittering colours.
On presentation of these packaged gifts to the couple, a big thank you said and a souvenir is given in return. The recipient is not given the opportunity of knowing the content until they reach home and most often after some days. When eventually these gifts are opened, some of the gifts fall below the expectation of the recipient. It is becoming clear to most people that what can not ordinarily be given can be neatly packaged and presented and it is accepted. The packaging makes it acceptable.
This position was tested by a man recently. He emptied the content of his trash bin and refuse container into a small carton. He then neatly packaged it, put it in his car and made a trip to the town. He got to a busy highway and stylishly dropped it and drove away. About 200 meters from where he dropped the package was an overhead bridge. He packed his car nearby and simply took a vintage position to watch the unfolding drama about his package.
Some cars drove by noticing it but not stopping probably because of their speed. Finally he saw a jeep drove past, stopped in front and reversed back to the spot of the package. A lady came down and soon after, the package was now part of their luggage. Those who watched thought it may be theirs and most likely, they must have forgotten it before now and are now coming to pick it up.
The man got satisfied that his refuse will be guest to the rich today. He thanked the packaging industry for helping him disposed of his refuse stylishly.
A peep into the woman’s house revealed huge disappointment and anger when the package was opened. Imagine if the package was opened right in front of friends.
The devil has neatly packaged sin and left it in the open. Most of us are captivated by the packaging and have picked our carton.
Sin, because of it’s packaging by the devil is very attractive and wears an unsuspecting name.
