VISIT ALEXANDRIA This weekend for LES FEST at the Zoo!!!

One of my favorite places to visit in North Louisiana is the Alexandria Zoological Park. I urge you, if you have not visited this treasure, plan a trip to Alexandria and spend the day roaming through one of the best zoos in the region. The zoo full of exotic animals and is a great place to enjoy the outdoors while relaxing and taking in nature. One of the highlights of a visit to the zoo is walking through the Louisiana Habitat complete with alligators, otters, black bear, raccoons, and even an old Louisiana-style house.

I have had the pleasure of visiting this zoo a number of times over the past three years. I was so impressed that I make it a point to visit when I'm travel to Alexandria. There is so much to see and do that it takes an entire day to see and experience it all. Make sure to bring plenty of quarters to buy food to feed the fish in the pond. After walking through the park, take a ride on Bayou Le Choo Choo and before leaving browse through the gift shop and take home a memento to remember your visit.

The Alexandria Zoological Park is located in the heart or the city of Alexandria. It sits on 33 acres of neatly landscaped walkways and is home to over 500 animals. It is the attention to detail and the vision of the late Les Whitt that make this a special place. One can loose all sense of time and space once they are submersed in the atmosphere of the zoo. The sights and sounds of the animals lure visitors into a state of relaxation. It seems as though the outside world disappears for a few hours and you are walking through a nature preserve. One often forgets that this zoo is in the middle of town!

One more event to mark on your calendar is the Zoo Boo  in October. This event is a major fundraiser for the zoo and is a fun and safe way to spend Halloween. The zoo is transformed into a trick-or-treater's dream land. It has become a much anticipated event for the Cenla area.
