Keják celolistý (Zamia integrifolia, son. Zamia floridana) is a plant genus kejákovitých (Zamiaceae) from the class of cycads.
It is widespread in the Caribbean and southern United States. Belongs to the genus Zamia, in which the total of 53 species of plants belonging to the evolutionarily oldest plants in the world.
This species belongs to the very broadly described cykasům and its variants are very diverse and difficult to distinguish. Above all shapes tickets are extremely diverse. Some authors of this type are earmarked as a variant of the Florida Zamia floridana.
This name, however, is not formally recognized. Plant as Zamia floridana sometimes appears on the market, a more accurate name is Zamia integrifolia var. floridana. In the past, in this species is now classified as separate species keják minor who is less regular tickets.
Etymology
The word "Zamia" is derived from the Greek word for cone.
Czech name "keják" is derived from the word denotes a rod and cone on the stem. Was first used by JS Presl in 1846.
Also, the generic name comes from the Czech JS Presl and Latin translation of the name. Keják celolistý was named in 1848 in a publication Počátkowé rostlinoslowí and, like the Latin name is not entirely accurate.
The word "celolistý" indicates massive edge and leaves the plant differs from species keják retail, which was previously classified into the same kind.
Toxicity
Like most cycads, and other house plants are poisonous and keják celolistý - cycads poisoning can cause kidney failure, liver and nervous disorders. Most toxic plant parts are seeds inside the "stoning". Seed formation in normal housing conditions is impossible without artificial pollination.
The plant was in the U.S. used to produce starch and the Indians soon after the industry, which led her among the protected species.
Protection
Keják celolistý according to the IUCN Red list rank among the endangered species. It is also included in the list of endangered species, CITES Appendix II to the category of vulnerable plants. Trade in them is controlled, the seeds are not so.
