Giveaway: Win the Latest from Christina, Leela, Lucy, and the Ladies of Lilith - Cherrygrrl.com

Press Release --

Giveaway: Win the Latest from Christina, Leela, Lucy, and the Ladies of Lilith

If your iPod is begging for some new material, we have an easy fix – we want to give you 4 awesome albums from a diverse group of talented female musicians.

Our very special musical prize pack includes:

Lucy Woodward “Hooked!”

The 11-song album showcases Woodward’s engaging, expressive vocals and witty, insightful songwriting on such memorable originals as “He Got Away,” “Purple Heart,” “Slow Recovery” and “Too Much to Live For.” Another highlight is “Another Woman,” especially written for Lucy by admirer Nellie McKay, who lends her harmony vocals to the track. Woodward’s gifts as an interpreter of outside material are showcased on her distinctive readings of such vintage tunes as the obscure Peggy Lee number “Sans Souci,” Hoagy Carmichael’s 1930s pop standard “Stardust” and “I Wan’na Be Like You (The Monkey Song),” originally sung by Louis Prima in Disney’s The Jungle Book.

Leela James “My Soul”

“The title of the album pretty much says it all,” James explains. “I just wanted to go into the studio and do what moved me at the time, and not think about it too much or not allow it to be something that was too planned. That’s what great soul music has always been about from the very beginning – something very raw, very authentic and very true.”

Christina Aguilera “Bionic”

Bionic features songs co-written by Aguilera along with her much buzzed about collaborations including Sia, Tricky Stewart, Polow Da Don, Le Tigre, Hill & Switch, and Ladytron among others. Aguilera notes, “Working on this album with so many talented artists and producers that I admire was really an amazing experience. The artists I chose to work with added so many unique sonic layers to Bionic. My intention was to step into their world and what they do combined with my own vision and sound. The results were magic.” The album also features a ballad produced and written by Linda Perry titled “Lift Me Up.” The title Bionic reflects Aguilera’s ability to take her range to new levels and use her voice in various ways never heard before.

Lilith 2010

This special collection offers an abundant selection of songs from some of Lilith 2010’s most anticipated performances including Rihanna’s “Russian Roulette,” Ke$ha’s “TiK ToK,” Court Yard Hounds’ “The Coast,” Colbie Caillat’s “Fallin’ For You,” to Norah Jones’ “Chasing Pirates,” Corinne Bailey Rae’s “The Blackest Lily,” as well as Lilith co-founder Sarah McLachlan’s “One Dream,” to name a few album highlights.

“This compilation represents an amazing cross section of artists performing on Lilith in 2010. Simply great music,” comments Lilith co-founder Terry McBride.

Moon Dough Barnyard Play Set Giveaway

Jake, 3-years-old, generally wakes up from his nap about a half-an-hour before his younger brother Luke. During that time, I try to do an activity with him that we couldn't do if Luke was awake - like play with toys that aren't age appropriate for Luke. The Moon Dough Barnyard Set was perfect for these instances, and Jake had a blast!

Moon Dough isn't like any type of clay or dough you have ever seen or played with before. It is soft and marshmallow-like and never dries out. You can use it over and over again and it works just like new. The dough came in 3 colors which quickly became 1 color as a 3-year-old has a hard time keeping the colors separate. The suggested age range was for children ages 2-4, however, I can't imagine my 2-year-old being able to work with the Moon Dough properly, especially since he would surely eat it. It is hypo-allergenic and wheat-free so it would be safe should a child happen to decide to have a taste.

video

How it works: You place the moon dough in the top of the barn into one of 4 different molds (horse, cow, sheep and chicken) turn the crank 2 times and out pops your moon dough in the shape of the animal. The dough is pretty fragile and if you have an easily frustrated child, I'd probably steer clear of Moon Dough until they are older. At first Jake would pick up the animal and it would either break in half or the shape would be unrecognizable from him simply handling it too rough. (In the video he tells you that the animal he just made was a flamingo - clearly he didn't care what he was making - he was just having fun making it.)

Horse, Cow and Chicken - in a mixture of all 3 colors

Moon Dough recommends playing on a vinyl tablecloth and I very quickly found out, that was a great suggestion. The dough is very dusty but does clean up really easily. It simply would have been even easier on a slick surface like that or a table (we played on a blanket & had to wash the blanket afterward because the dust ground into the fabric).

I can hardly wait until Jake gets a little better and understanding how to work with the Moon Dough better - I didn't let him use all the dough so we still have a lot of dough that he didn't mix together. A little goes a long way. Once we played with it a bit, it did hold it's shape a little better and he was able to play with the animals in the farm, though it got a bit crowded in there as you can see in the above picture - Jake didn't care, he just "smooshed" it back into one of the molds and started all over again!
