Counterinsurgency

I've been doing some reading on
Counterinsurgency since I found
out that number 3 son will be
deployed to Iraq. Both of
the following books by David
Kilcullen have been thought
provoking. I'm not entirely
sure that his contention that
populations are always looking
for the force (insurgent or
government) that provides the
greatest security. Religion,
particularly Islamic religion,
may trump security.
